Tennessee Backroads: Delano In Delano the twang of bluegrass music fills the air in May and August, and the nearby hotels fill with musical tourists. The Delano Bluegrass Festival brings in a variety of performers, with time for jamming, too. Admission is cheap, the barbeque is great, and music doesn't get more authentic than this.
Delano is also home to Savannah Oaks Winery, housed in an 1840s cantilevered barn. The friendly Davis family hosts free wine tastings, occasional musical events, and a fall grape stomp for visitors – just like in the old "I Love Lucy" episode. Down the road, behind Savannah Oaks Winery, is a Mennonite community. In season their farm market has fresh fruits and vegetables, along with baked goods, pickles, jams, and homemade soap. They request visitors to their store dress modestly, in keeping with Mennonite principles. .
