Tennessee Backroads:  US 11

US-11's small towns grew up along the railroad line and even today it's an interesting alternative to I-75 for tourists who aren't in a hurry.  If a visitor detours off the Interstate to see a few sights, it's not far back onto I-75. 

These towns' histories are rich with early 1900s stories and buildings.  But before the railroad, this was Cherokee country.  I've noted Cherokee sites where possible. 

 Beginning at the southern end of US-11 and driving north, here are the towns:
